The first 1 ton bakkie to be released by Volkswagen, the Amarok sets the wolf among the sheep when it comes to this popular segment. Not only is it Best in Class in terms of space, load bed width and height, cargo loading capabilities and capacity, but it does so powered by a mere 2 litre engine. Featuring common rail injection and a two stage control bi-turbo, the engine gets 120KW with maximum torque of 400Nm. The Amarok offers class-leading fuel consumption figures of just under 8.0 litres per 100kms, making it possible to drive 1,000 kilometres without having to refill its 80 litre fuel tank. Comfort and safety are of the top drawer variety, with multiple airbags for both driver and passenger, 3 point seat belts for every occupant and ESP and off-road ABS among the standard offerings. Interior space allows 5 adults to be seated comfortably, giving the Amarok the feel of an SUV combined with the utility of a bakkie.
